As from today, Moonee Valley Magazine will be no more.
To my two loyal, long-time contributors, Phil and Vincent, bon voyage.
To my (too) small group of loyal readers and supporters, thank you.
Never say never but thinking outside the square might support an ad hoc reincarnation, one day.

Statement from Ben Carroll, Member for Niddrie with regard to Avondale Heights Police Station.

Since coronavirus and the introduction of the Police Assistant Line, visitation to police station counters has declined significantly.

As a result, the Avondale Heights Police Station counter service has been temporarily suspended.

Avondale Heights Police Officers continue to answer phone calls and proceed with work as usual whilst the counter is closed.

Across Victoria, we receive a 24 hour police response and police are continuing to operate in the area 24 hours a day, working proactively to protect the local community.

This decision was made by Victoria Police at a local command level and will not have an impact on police response or service delivery to the community.

All Victorians, no matter where they live, can also engage with police on all non-urgent matters at the Police Assistance Line on 131 444. In emergencies, always call 000.

World Wetlands Day
Today is  World Wetlands Day (February 2). RSPCA Victoria is encouraging animal lovers to visit their local wetlands to discover the ducks and other native birdlife living in some of Victoria’s greatest natural treasures.

The RSPCA is joining the cause in encouraging Victorians to explore wetlands through their collaboration with BirdLife Australia called Discover Ducks, an education campaign designed to build an affection and appreciation for the native ducks that call Victoria home. RSPCA
Is this police station closing?
If you happened to be trawling social media you might well have read a few whines about police stations closing at 5pm? And how much border protection is eating in to police power at local stations?

Well, overnight, MVMag had correspondence with numerous sources suggesting that Avondale Heights Police Station is going to be closed!

My first thought was rumour? I was reassured that the information was on the money.

If anyone has heard the same rumble please send details to The Editor, in confidence. (Statement by Ben Carroll, the Member for Niddrie, above)

You can't always get what you want. The social media platforms are like giant private clubs.  A huge Mar-a-Lago that everyone may seek to join.  Like any club, they have rules, rules not set by those who want to join, just like Mar-a-Lago.  Try joining that club if you are a vocal opponent of Trump.
